JAMMU, July 23: The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena (DF&SS) under the leadership of their president, Ashok Gupta staged a protest demonstration against the soaring prices of vegetables and other essential commodities.
The protesters carried vegetables on their heads expressing resentment.
Addressing the protesters, Gupta said that soaring prices of essentials and other items have badly affected common public.
“With price of essential commodities touching sky, the basic needs of life are becoming unaffordable day-by-day,” he said adding: “The worst hit are the housewives whose monthly budget has been disturbed.”
The DF&SS leader said that few years back, the Government used to have a price mechanism policy.
He further said that the Government should initiate such a policy again so that the people can be saved from inflation.
Gupta also said that a committee should be formed to keep an eye on black marketers.
Abhishek, Prem, Bantu, Kalu, Satish, Khandu, Bhola, Vikky, Naresh, Rahul and others were also present in the protest.
