JAMMU, Aug 1: The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena (DF&SS) here today took out a protest rally under the leadership of their president, Ashok Gupta and expressed resentment against the sale and use of Chinese Manja (Gattu) which has killed and injured many people.
“Chinese kite string is a nationwide problem and action should be taken against its import, sale and use,” Gupta said while addressing the protesters.
He further said that the tragic death of a 37-year-old man, Sahil Kumar, whose throat was fatally slit by a banned Chinese nylon thread on Jammu-Akhnoor flyover, has sent shockwaves throughout the city.
“The banned Chinese synthetic thread coated with glass particles has become a menace in Jammu and its suburbs particularly during festivals like Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami,” Gupta maintained adding, “Strong action by SHO Pacca Danga, Rakesh Jamwal against the sale of Gattu has yielded good results in the area but still the dreaded thread is being sold in Domana, Janipur and R.S Pura, which needs to be checked.”
Nanku, Shekhar, Ganesh, Sat Pal, Prem, Naresh, Vijay, Durga Dass, Janak, Vikky and many others were also present in the rally.
