JAMMU, Aug 2: Workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena (DF&SS) here today organised a protest rally under the leadership of their president, Ashok Gupta against the anti-encroachment drive by JMC.
During the drive, over five truckloads of material displayed outside the shops or on footpaths were seized.
Addressing the protesters, Ashok Gupta said, “The staff of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) come on bikes, click photos of the shops and stick notices outside the shops in the dark.”
He said that this behaviour of JMC staff is unbearable as they don’t even believe in consultation with the shopkeepers before starting such drives.
“We’re ready to cooperate with JMC authorities to ensure de-congestion of city roads but things are settled in meetings and not by such random drives instilling panic among the shopkeepers,” the DF&SS leader maintained adding, “Even if JMC has been authorised by the High Court then too they should involve the local shopkeepers before taking action.”
Abhishek, Fauji, Bau Ram, Krishna Devi, Shilo Devi, Ram Pyari, Shamo and many others were also present in the rally.
