UDHAMPUR, Oct 19: Sleuths of Drug and Food Control Organization carried out an extensive inspection drive across various parts of Udhampur to ensure food safety and hygiene in view of the ongoing festive season.
A team of officers led by Food Safety Officer Pervaiz Ahmed, along with other field staff, inspected several sweet shops and outlets dealing with food and food items. During the inspection, samples of various sweets and other edible items were lifted for analytical testing to verify their quality and safety standards.
The team also sensitized shopkeepers about maintaining cleanliness, adopting hygienic practices, and avoiding any form of food adulteration. They were urged to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act to ensure safe and wholesome food for consumers.
The department has reiterated that such inspection and awareness drives will continue in the district to safeguard public health and ensure that food business operators maintain the highest standards of hygiene and safety.
