KULGAM, Oct 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached a property belonging to a detained drug peddler in Kulgam district.
A property worth Rs 61 lakh, belonging to one Ghulam Rasool Dar of Vidoe Mishipora, was attached under section 68-F of the NDPS Act 1985, a police official said.
According to him, the accused was involved in case FIR number 62/2021 of Police Station Qaimoh, in which 520 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered.
He said the accused is currently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu, under the preventive detention in the PIT-NDPS Act.
The police official added that the attached property, valued at Rs 61 lakh, was identified as illegally acquired from narcotics proceeds.
The attachment, he said, was executed in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and local residents after a detailed investigation by Police Station Qaimoh.
“The operation was part of the continuing drive by the J&K Police to dismantle the drug networks and curb their sources of financing in the district,” said the police official, while reiterating the police’s commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs by taking strict action, including the attachment of illegal acquired properties.
