Derogatory remarks by Mehraj against DC Doda invite protest, condemnations

BHADERWAH, Sept 7: People of Bhaderwah today staged a protest demonstration and flayed MLA Mehraj Malik for allegedly using abusive and derogatory language against Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh.
The protest was held at historic Seri Bazar in which locals raised slogans against Mehraj Malik and demanded strict action against him.
The protesters accused the MLA of crossing the limits by not only abusing the Deputy Commissioner personally but also dragging his family members into the controversy.
They urged the administration to slap PSA on Malik alleging that he is habitual of hurling abuses at senior officers.
“Such behaviour is unacceptable and is an insult to the institution of governance,” the protesters said while calling upon the authorities concerned to step in.
In a statement, prominent citizen Sunny Sharma lauded the relief measures undertaken by DC Doda in the aftermath of heavy rains and devastating floods. “People of Bhaderwah have appreciated the timely and tireless efforts of the Deputy Commissioner who stood by the public during weather fury and worked round the clock to mitigate their sufferings,” Sharma maintained.
After protest, in a press conference, District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Bhadarwah, led by Rangeel Singh condemned the derogatory and indecent remarks by MLA Mehraj Malik on social media against DC Doda, Harvinder Singh.
He appealed to the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to take strict action against Malik so that such shameful acts are not repeated in future.
Meanwhile, J&K BJP Minority Morcha, led by its president, Ranjodh Singh Nalwa strongly condemned the alleged abusive and derogatory remarks made by Doda MLA and Aam Aadmi Party leader, Mehraj Malik against DC Doda Harvinder Singh. Nalwa said: “It is unacceptable that an elected public representative resorts to such uncivilized and abusive language, not only towards an IAS officer but also in a manner that offends community values and moral decency.”
Varinderjeet Singh, chairman National Sikh Front strongly condemned of the recent conduct by MLA Mehraj Malik of Doda constituency. The MLA’s actions, which included derogatory remarks against DC Doda have raised serious concerns regarding the decorum expected from an elected representative.
Senior trade union leader and president, Teachers Welfare Association, Jasmeet Singh Madaan strongly condemned the conduct of an elected public representative, Mehraj Malik and the use of derogatory remarks by him against DC Doda Harvinder Singh.
