JAMMU, Jan 31: Deputy Speaker, Legislative Assembly has appointed former Minister and MLA, Qamar Ali Akhoon as the chairman of the Committee to look into the illegal encroachment of wet lands and conversion for residential purposes.
He has also nominated G.M. Saroori, Javid Ahmed Dar, Rafi Ahmed Mir, Ajaz Ahmed Jan and Indu Pawar as the members of the Committee.
The House Committee has been constituted to ascertain the factual position regarding the illegal encroachment of wet lands for its conversion for residential purpose in Srinagar, Bandipora and Baramulla districts and conversion of agriculture land and Kahcharai land for residential and commercial purposes with particular reference to Shalteng and its adjoining areas within 10 km radius whether falling within the Administrative Jurisdiction of Srinagar, Baramulla or Bandipora districts.
