JAMMU, Feb 5: Senior Congress leader and DDC Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony here today led a deputation to meet Minister for Forests, Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs, Javed Rana.
The deputation highlighted water crisis in various parts of Bahu Constituency and submitted a memorandum of demands.
Tony apprised the Minister about two failed tube wells in Chatha and a new water source identified in Gurha Bermini, Bathindi and requested Minister’s approval to initiate a fresh tube well project at this location.
The Minister promptly marked the proposal to Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti directing immediate action to resolve the crisis.
Tony further raised concerns over severe water shortages in areas such as Bhour, Chatha Pind, Sainik Colony, Greater Kailash, Chowadi and Trikuta Nagar, where residents were struggling even for drinking water supply.
He emphasized for short-term relief measures including water tanker supplies to ensure that people do not suffer while long-term solutions like tube wells are implemented.
The Minister, while giving a patient hearing, assured the visiting delegation that water scarcity issues will be addressed on priority and all necessary steps will be taken to ensure that residents receive an adequate supply of water.
The deputation comprised of Tanzeem Choudhary, Parvaiz Malik, Bilal, Hyder and Kabir Mughal.
