Department of Tourism, JKCCA organise National Painters’ Camp

JAMMU, Dec 9: A four days’ National Painters’ Camp (NPC) organized by Directorate of Tourism, Jammu (J&K) in collaboration with J&K Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu was inaugurated here today.
The camp was inaugurated by renowned painter Prof. Saroj Rani, at JKTDC Tourist Complex, Mansar.
Twelve well known senior artists of different states/ UTs of the country are participating in this camp.
Speaking on the occasion, O P Sharma, Director, JKCCA, informed about the purpose of organizing such a camp by Directorate of Tourism.
The event would also provide the artists an opportunity to interact with their counterparts working at different places which would help them to have first hand information about the art activities going in their respective areas.
With this there will be a healthy exchange of views and exposure of various media and techniques used by the artists across the country.
Sharma appreciated the step taken by Directorate of Tourism and Sunaina Sharma, Joint Director, Tourism Department, Jammu to promote art and culture in the region.
He said, “JKCCA is working with other organizations and departments to find out the possibilities to explore art and culture, particularly of the Jammu region. The JKCCA has so far has organized hundreds of art exhibitions, camps and sixteen international art exhibitions.”
Among others who attended the camp included Yaswant Patel, Valabh Vidyanagar (Gujrat), Dr. A K Dixit, New Delhi, Mohd. Moin, Dehradun, Pratima Singh, Lucknow, Dr. Saroj Rani, Varanasi (UP), K S Gill, Dharminder Sharma, Amritsar (Punjab), O P Sharma, Naveen Gupta, Virji Virender Sumbly, Ashok Mehra and Jang S. Verman.
