Srinagar, Oct 15: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Chowdhary today said demanding a report card of one year from the NC-led Government is an “injustice.”
Speaking to reporters here, Chowdhary said the Government will present its report card after completing its five-year tenure, stressing that those who were in power for the last 11 years should first explain their achievements.
“Asking for a report card after ten months is an injustice. We have a five-year mandate and we will deliver. Ask them what they have done,” he said.
Chowdhary pointed to several incomplete projects, including a community hall in Chanapora, saying, “It has remained unfinished for years. Many projects were started but not completed.”
On the issue of illegal mining, Chowdhary said stopping it is the responsibility of the concerned Deputy Commissioners and district police chiefs.
“They did nothing in the last 11 years. Controlling illegal mining is the duty of the DCs and SSPs, not the Chief Minister or Ministers,” he said.
Regarding the NC’s alliance with the Congress, Chowdhary said it remains “intact,” adding that “it is only the BJP that gets pain in the belly over it.” On the upcoming bypolls in Nagrota and Budgam, he said people know which party has worked for them, asserting that NC will win both seats.
“People from Nagrota know what the 28 MLAs from Jammu did. In Budgam, BJP cannot win – people there are aware and capable. The NC candidate will win both seats,” he said.
He denied allegations that the NC was favouring the BJP in the upcoming Rajya Sabha election, saying, “Nobody is favouring BJP. Those who claim to be the people’s well-wishers must vote to keep BJP away. Those who abstain will be the A-team and B-team of BJP.”
