SAMBA, Apr 8: Delimitation Forum has appealed to the people and various groups of Jammu region to get united and gear up for collective struggle for seeking delimitation of Assembly constituencies in the State as it was must for providing justice to the people of Jammu.
In a meeting of the Forum organised at Mandal in Samba district today, wherein, a large number pf persons from Mandal, Kutwalta, Utterbehni, Keoli, Kharah and Sangad participated, the speakers deliberated on the reservation of constituency for the last 25 years and demanded constitution of Delimitation Commission at the earliest as it is the need of the hour. Senior member of the Forum, MJ Sharma, said that it is gross violation of the constitution because as per constitution, delimitation has to be done after every census, that is, at least after 10 years. He further told that people of several constituencies are feeling disgusted and deprived because of the misuse of constitutional power by the Legislature.
Besides this, the speakers also demanded crop compensation, removal of Lantana weed from forest area and compensation for the animals killed by the leopard.
It is pertinent to mention here that this catchment (Balol-Devak) is well wood due to tree friendly approach of the locals as well as efforts of the Soil and Water Conservation Department of Forest.
