SRINAGAR, July 7: A delegation of Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, District Baramulla here today led by its president, Paramjit Singh called on Lieutenant Governor (LG), Manoj Sinha.
Members of the delegation putforth various issues pertaining to the welfare and empowerment of Sikh Community in J&K.
These issues included extension of benefits under SRO 425 to non-migrant Sikh community members, grant of ST status based on language & ethnicity, political representation of Sikhs, constitution of J&K Sikh Development Board and special recruitment drive for Sikh youth.
The delegation also demanded the grant of lease for Guru Nanak School, run by District Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Baramulla and allocation of land for a memorial in the honour of Sikh community members martyred during tribal raids by Pakistan in 1947.
The LG assured the delegation that appropriate action will be taken to address the issues projected.
