Delegation calls on DRM

JAMMU, Apr 7: A delegation of the association of gallantry awarded warriors “War Decorated India”, led by Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, called on the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Northern Railway, Firozpur (Punjab) and apprised him of the difficulties faced by the gallantry award winners of Chakra series who are required to visit the DRM office each time for renewal of their complementary Rail passes.
The delegation impressed upon the DRM to shift the renewal procedural documentation to the New Railway Division office at Jammu, thereby reducing the journey of these aged senior citizens including some war wounded and especially abled warriors who have made sacrifices for the defence of motherland.
Among the 163 entitled awardees of J&K, 84 are war widows and most of the awardees are in 65-90 years of age bracket. They come from distant far flung areas of J&K and take two to three days one way to reach Firozpur, every timer.
The DRM, Sanjeev Kumar gave patient hearing to the delegation, agreed to the proposal and approved it, said a handout.
