JAMMU, Sept 4: Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K Unit has demanded that Jammu division should be declared flood affected.
In a press conference here today, Shiv Sena J&K chief, Manish Sahni said that floods, landslides and heavy rains have wreaked havoc in almost every district of Jammu division.
“The devastation that started with cloudburst on August 14 killed 150-160 people and damaged more than 500 houses leaving hundreds of people homeless besides inflicting huge financial losses,” he maintained adding: “Electricity and water supply has also been badly affected by the calamity and Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed for a week while 2500 roads have been damaged.”
Sahni also demanded early restoration of the pilgrimage of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji as the same was closed on August 26, 2025 after a landslide which killed 34 people and injured many.
Vikas Bakshi, general secretary, Sanjeev Kohli, working president, Balwant Singh, senior vice president and Nathpal Choudhary were also present in the press conference.
