Death toll rises to 42 in Sigachi industries fire tragedy

HYDERABAD, July 6 : Sigachi Industries Limited has confirmed the tragic loss of two more employees following the devastating fire accident at its Pashamylaram facility, bringing the total number of fatalities to 42.

The incident, which occurred on July 4, remains one of the worst industrial accidents in recent memory in Telangana.

Of the 143 employees present at the facility during the time of the accident, 61 have been confirmed safe. Among the 33 injured, 14 have now recovered and been discharged from hospital care, while 18 are still undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Hyderabad. Alarmingly, eight employees are still unaccounted for.

Established in 1989, the Pashamylaram plant had maintained an incident-free record for 36 years and is certified under ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety. The company stated that it has always adhered to strict safety and compliance protocols.

In a statement released on Sunday, Sigachi Industries expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing emergency response efforts. The company is actively coordinating with local authorities for investigation and compliance and is also providing support to the families of the victims.
