JAMMU, Dec 25: Shree Vishwakarma Library & Research Centre (SVLARC) here today observed 31st death anniversary of Giani Zail Singh, 7th President of India, at Vishwakarma Temple Mishriwala.
Floral tribute were paid to Giani Zail Singh and the speakers threw light on his life.
Balwant Kataria, vice chairman, said Giani Zail Singh was born on May 5, 1916, in a small village near Kot Kapura, formerly Princely State of Faridkot.
“He lost his mother at his early age and in 1949, Giani Zail Singh became Revenue Minister,” Kataria maintained.
Mangal Dass Verma, chairman of Temple Committee, said Giani Zail Singh became the Chief Minister of Punjab in 1972 and in 1982 he was unanimously elected by the Congress party as the President of India and he died on 25 December, 1994.
Joginder Angotra, incharge of library also spoke on the occasion.
On this occasion note books were distributed to the participating children.
Organizers included Rashpal Singh Verma, president and Om Kataria.
