RAJOURI, June 15: In a significant move aimed at accelerating developmental initiatives and promoting tourism in the region, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, paid a visit to Darhal Sub-Division today.
During his extensive visit DDC undertook a comprehensive review of ongoing developmental works and tourism infrastructure in the area. He inspected main bazaar road, Sagrawat road, and the tourism base camp at Budkhanari, which is emerging as a promising destination for trekkers and nature enthusiasts. The base camp, nestled in the lap of the Pir Panjal range, has been witnessing a sharp increase in tourist arrivals over the past month, thanks to its pristine landscapes, gushing streams, and lush green meadows.
During the visit, DDC Councilor Darhal, Mohd Iqbal Malik, engaged in a detailed interaction with the Deputy Commissioner, highlighting key developmental concerns of the area and pressing for time-bound resolution of public issues. Discussions centered on road connectivity, tourism infrastructure, public services, and sustainable development of the region.
The visit underlines the district administration’s commitment to inclusive and participatory development, as well as its focus on leveraging the tourism potential of Darhal and its upper reaches, which remain relatively unexplored yet rich in natural beauty.
The Deputy Commissioner assured that all necessary steps will be taken to address the concerns raised and to ensure holistic growth of the area with an emphasis on eco-tourism and infrastructure improvement.
