DDC Samba reviews Disaster Management Plan

SAMBA, Sept 8: District Development Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda, today chaired  a meeting to discuss issues pertaining to preparedness for disaster management.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Vivek Sharma, ADC Tilak Raj Sharma, Addl SP Raja Adil Hamid, SDM Ghagwal Narayan Dutt Sharma, ACR Samba Waseem Raja, Tehsildars, ExEns from PDD, PWD, I&FC, Army and Civil Defence representatives and other officers.
The DDC reviewed plan for joint control room, information dissemination and flow of authority and responsibility. The civil defence officials informed that they have imparted basic training/briefing to volunteers identified by Tehsildars. These volunteers will assist in relief and rescue operation along with Angwanwadi and ASHA Workers in case of any calamity.
The DDC directed all line departments associated with rescue, relief and rehabilitation to prepare the contingency plans and submit these along with timelines so that a comprehensive plan is formulated in order to quantify the response time. It was also decided in the meeting that a mock drill shall be conducted at Ramgarh having many flood prone areas.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue Samba has been nominated as Nodal Officer for disaster response in the district.
