DDC reviews progress on Devika project

UDHAMPUR, July 9: In order to review the progress of ongoing prestigious Devika Project, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla chaired a meeting of officers and contractors of executing agencies at Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur.
During meeting threadbare discussions were held on various issues like blacktopping, restoration of excavated stretches, expedition of laying of sewerage pipes, development of Devika Ghats, Design vetting of STPs, restoration of public utilities in the town etc.
While reviewing the work wise progress of Devika Project DDC directed the executing agencies to gear up the progress to fill the gap created due to COVID-19 crisis. He gave strict directions for increasing the men and machinery to complete the project with in time frame and also directed the executing agencies to ensure that engineers are stationed at the site and update the progress on daily basis. Singla exhorted that despite all the major issues resolved by District administration after hectic efforts, 100% land has been handed over to the executing agency.
Executing agency was asked to make advance plan for execution of work instead of random execution and inform the concerned councillors before the commencement of work. Supretendent Engineer was directed to use the material which is vetted by the technical committee to ensure that only standard material is used. DDC directed for permanent restoration of roads where pipes are laid down and executing agencies were asked to clear the dumping sites so that the general public should not suffer.
Singla stressed on inter departmental coordination to execute their respective plans so that there is minimum inconvenience to the public and saving of resources also. He asked all the departments to work jointly to resolve the issues on priority. He directed Xen R&B to make Venus Chowk stretch functional for the traffic and also asked to submit design of Omara rotary. Xen PHE was asked to check all illegal water connections used for commercial purposes in view of water scarcity.
Among others, Additional District Development Commiss-ioner, Ashok Kumar, president MC Udhampur Dr Jogeshwar Gupta, Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan, , SE R&B, Shakti Sagar, SE UEED, ACR, Viqar Giri, DIO, Sajad Bashir, Xen PHE, Taj Choudhary, Xen PWD, Pawan Gupta besides Engineers and contractors of executing agency were present in the meeting.
