DDC reviews PMFBY progress, stresses timely achievement of Rabi Crop Coverage targets

REASI, Jan 9: District Development Commissioner Reasi Nidhi Malik today chaired a meeting of the District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) to review the coverage under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).

The Chief Agriculture Officer explained the scope and procedural framework of PMFBY. “It is a flagship crop insurance scheme of the Government of India, aimed at providing comprehensive insurance cover against crop loss or failure due to natural calamities, pests and diseases, thereby helping stabilize farmers’ incomes and safeguarding their livelihoods,” he said.

The DDC asked bank officials and representatives of the insurance companies to intensify efforts to achieve Rabi crop coverage target of 5,602 hectares well within the stipulated time frame.

Emphasizing the importance of outreach and awareness, the DDC instructed agriculture department officials to proactively inform and mobilize farmers about the benefits of the scheme.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal; CPO Narinder Kumar; CAO Vinod Kundal, LDM and other concerned officers.
