RAJOURI, Nov 1: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh today conducted a day long tour of the border areas of Challas and Pukharani to take the first hand appraisal of the public grievances of these areas.
During the visit to Challas, the border area of block Doongi and Pukharani of block Qila Darhal, the DDC interacted with the locals who apprised about a number of issues and sought augmentation of water supply schemes, better road connectivity, blacktopping of local roads, sanctioning of additional border bunkers etc.
The DDC said that the district administration Rajouri is committed to provide all the basic facilities to the border residents so that they don’t face any inconvenience in the day to day life.
Responding to the demands, the DDC informed that for both the places a proposal for more than 2800 additional bunkers has been sent to the concerned authorities for approval and the district administration shall ensure the 100 percent saturation of the all the areas with the bunkers as soon as the proposal is approved.
About the issues of road connectivity, the DDC directed field functionaries of the concerned departments to immediately execute the work on the roads which require minor repair and also prepare the DPRs for the major works to ensure better connectivity to the border inhabitants. Regarding the scarcity of water, the DDC informed that all the households of the blocks shall be provided with tapped water connection under Jal Jeevan Mission. The DDC also inspected the progress of work on the border bunkers being executed in the twin blocks.
Block Development Officer Doongi and field functionaries of the blocks were present on the occasion.
