RAJOURI, Dec 21: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today inspected the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Bus Stand as part of the ongoing mission-mode drive to strengthen sanitation and ensure effective waste segregation in Rajouri town.
During the visit, the DDC interacted with sanitation supervisors and field staff, appreciated their efforts and urged them to work with sincerity and dedication. He emphasized segregation of dry and wet waste at source, terming it vital for sustainable waste management, and directed the sanitation workforce to sensitise the public accordingly.
The District Development Commissioner informed that for the past six days, the district administration has been continuously monitoring waste segregation, sanitation facilities and cleanliness across the town to achieve visible improvements.
Later, the DDC inspected the ongoing construction of the Aspirational Toilet at Bus Stand and directed the concerned agencies to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion of the project.
He also inspected Abdullah Bridge and Jullah Bridge and instructed the concerned departments to install protective mesh on both sides to prevent dumping of waste into the river and to enhance pedestrian safety, especially for children.
The District Development Commissioner further inspected the ongoing construction work of the Martyr Dr Raj Kumar Thapa Memorial Museum and Library and reviewed the progress of the project.
In addition, the DDC visited Salani to inspect the proposed site for the construction of a Water Park and reviewed the feasibility of the project.
Subsequently, the District Development Commissioner inspected the culvert constructed by BRO at Kheora, expressed satisfaction over the completion of the work and directed that it be made operational for vehicular movement at the earliest.
ADC Chander Prakash, Tehsildar, Executive Officer Municipality, representatives from BRO and other district and sectoral officers accompanied the District Development Commissioner during the inspection.
