DDC distributes wheel chairs among 76 disabled students

Doda, Dec 30: Seventy six students with “severe disabilities”  especially locomotive disability were provided wheel chairs under the Inclusive Education for Disabled (IED) scheme of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) here today .
District Development Commissioner , Doda Mubarak Singh was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed wheel chairs.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that there is need to identify those children who require special attention and need.
He said the main objective of IED is to  provide least restrictive environment to disabled children so that they grow and develop like other children,  integrate the children with mild to severe disabilities to formal Govt. Schools,  Parent / Sibling Conselling , support manpower development activities and train required personal such  as normal school teachers, DIET lecturers and teachers and to setup resource centres besides  provide an equal opportunity to the disabled children and prepare them for life like other members of the society.
Chief Education Officer Doda M.A Rather, Major 10 RR Doda Kailash Jha besides other officers of Education Department and parents of disabled children attended the function.
