KATHUA, Oct 12: DDC Chairman Kathua, Col. Mahan Singh (Retd), today inaugurated the construction work of 1 km long road to SC Mohalla Adan under the District Capex Plan.
It was a long-pending demand of the locals there that a road connecting Marta to Bajod on Mahanpur-Basohli road should be constructed and now the after the inauguration the project will be executed by the PWD (R&B) Division Basohli.
The new road will benefit more than 50 families and will interlink several localities including Marta, Adan, Nagrota, Bajod, Jait and Kharmait.
The villagers expressed their heartfelt gratitude and celebrated the inauguration by distributing sweets.
Among those present on the occasion were Karam Chand (Ex-ZEO), Capt. Nake Ram, Karam Chand (Retired Headmaster), Munshi Ram and several local residents.
On this occasion, the 99-year-old village elder Dhani Ram said that he was demanding the road for the last 80 years and the road will now be a reality soon.
Col. Mahan Singh expressed gratitude to PM Modi and the UT administration for their commitment towards inclusive development.
