JAMMU, Aug 14: This Independence Day, August 15th, DD National is ready set to transform the holiday into a cinematic spectacle with a specially curated line-up of films blending nostalgia, patriotism and high-octane action.
The celebrations will kick off at 1:00 PM with the evergreen Bollywood classic Sholay (1975), directed by Ramesh Sippy and featuring an iconic cast including Sanjeev Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan and Amjad Khan as the legendary Gabbar Singh. Widely regarded as one of the greatest Indian films of all time, Sholay continues to captivate audiences nearly five decades after its release.
At 7:00 PM, the patriotic action-drama Tirangaa (1993) will take centre stage.
Starring Raj Kumar as Brigadier Suryadev Singh and Nana Patekar as Inspector Shivajirao Wagle, along with Mamta Kulkarni, Varsha Usgaonkar and Harish Kumar, the film delivers a gripping tale of courage, sacrifice and national pride.
The day will conclude at 10:00 PM with the Hollywood action-thriller Wrath of Man (2021), directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Jason Statham.
The fast-paced film, also featuring Holt McCallany, Jeffrey Donovan, Josh Hartnett, Laz Alonso and Scott Eastwood, promises an adrenaline-charged finale to the day’s celebrations.
