UDHAMPUR, Dec 9: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur today chaired a meeting of the District Level Monitoring Committee under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act to review its implementation in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional SP Sandeep Bhat; District Social Welfare Officer Kanika Gupta and officers from other concerned departments.
During the meeting, nine cases were placed before the Committee for review. After detailed deliberations, one case was approved and relief assistance amounting to Rs 75,000 was sanctioned to the affected individual. While 02 cases were deferred till the next meeting and 6 cases were dropped.
The DC reiterated the core objectives of the Committee, including timely registration and investigation of cases, adequate support and protection to victims and effective enforcement of the Act. The district-level data was thoroughly examined to identify gaps and areas requiring further improvement.
The DC also stressed on prompt fund disbursement, transparent processes and regular monitoring to ensure that the rights of SC/ST communities are fully safeguarded under the provisions of the Act.
