JAMMU, Apr 1: In a detailed review meeting, Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Enforcement (STE) Kathua commended the Enforcement Wing’s performance during the fiscal year 2023-24.
Attended by Assistant Commissioner, STOs, and field staff, the meeting highlighted the enforcement team’s outstanding achievement: the realization of penalties from GST defaulters skyrocketed to Rs 1.89 crores in February 2023-24, marking a staggering growth of 183.20% compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.
Throughout 2023-24, penalties collected totalled an impressive Rs 5.30 crores, surpassing the previous year’s figure by Rs 2 crores.
Notably, penalties were imposed on various commodities, including cases lacking proper documentation, marble/granite, metal scrap, furniture products, tobacco products, and other infractions.
The Deputy Commissioner State Taxes office celebrated a significant increase in revenue realization, up by 60.6% compared to the previous fiscal year.
The whole exercise was carried out by the staff of Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Enforcement Lakhanpur Pardeep Singh Manhas, under the guidance of Additional Commissioner State Taxes Namarta Dogra and PK Bhat, Commissioner State Taxes Department.
