RAMBAN, Apr 2: Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan along with Senior Superintendent of Police Arun Gupta today visited Baglihar Hydroelectric Project at Chanderkote to take a firsthand appraisal of the security scenario at the prestigious national project.
Chief Engineer JKSPDC Rajiv Gupta, officer of CISF and other concerned officers were present. The Deputy Commissioner and SSP inspected the project site and reviewed the existing security arrangements in place for safeguarding the infrastructure and ensuring smooth functioning of the project.
Later in a meeting, the officers held detailed discussions with officials of Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) regarding the security scenario and the requirements to strengthen in further.
Officers of JKSPDC and CISF briefed the Deputy Commissioner and SSP about the existing security setup and highlighted various measures being taken for the protection of the project infrastructure and workforce.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of maintaining a safe and secure environment at the project site in view of its strategic, power supply and economic significance. He directed the concerned agencies to ensure close coordination and constant monitoring of the security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident.
The SSP Ramban also emphasized the need for enhanced vigilance, installation of CCTV cameras and effective deployment of security personnel to secure vital installations and ensure uninterrupted functioning of the project.
