REASI, Mar 14: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee to review the status of road safety measures and enforcement across the district.
The DC took a detailed review of the steps being taken by the concerned departments to improve road safety and reduce accidents. He stressed on strict enforcement of traffic rules, installation of proper road signage, maintenance of crash barriers and identification of accident-prone spots across the district.
He directed the concerned departments to remove encroachments along roads and footpaths with the assistance of the Police Department. Marking of zebra crossings in front of schools, colleges, hospitals and government buildings was also stressed to ensure the safety of pedestrians. The Engineering departments were asked to submit a comprehensive road safety audit report within one month.
The DC directed the Health Department to ensure that health centres located along national highways are well equipped with adequate medical facilities to provide timely assistance in case of road accidents.
The officers were further instructed to intensify awareness campaigns on traffic rules and safe driving practices to enhance overall road safety in the district.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting to review the status of projects being implemented in the district by the Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums.
The DC reviewed the physical and financial progress of various projects under execution for the revival, restoration, preservation and maintenance of the district’s architectural and heritage assets.
The DC directed for physical verification of restoration works executed by the Public Works Department (R&B) in coordination with the Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums.
Among others present in the meeting were SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, ADC Rakesh Kumar, Addl. SP Iftekhar Ahmed, CPO Narinder Kumar and other concerned officers.
