DC Reasi gives financial assistance to building workers

REASI, May 6: The Deputy Commissioner Reasi Indu Kanwal Chib disbursed an amount of worth Rs 5,65,000 as 2nd financial installment during the COVID-19 pandemic among the beneficiaries of Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare scheme of Labour department, Reasi today through DBT mode.
In addition to it, as a significant measure for financial assistance during the lock down period due to COVID-19, 1st installment of worth Rs 5,80,000 was earlier released for purchase of ration during the month of March to active construction workers.
Deputy Commissioner Reasi hailed the Labour department Reasi headed by Assistant Labour Commissioner Pradyot Gupta for its proactive efforts in giving financial assistance to poor labourers at this crucial juncture in the midst of the worst global pandemic COVID-19. This measure has led to a little bit relief for construction workers as many workers in Reasi have left for their home towns and villages fearing a prolonged economic down turn. Many are stranded in cities and are deprived of their livelihood due to the stringent lock down measures. Labour department has also distributed 2600 number of masks to needy and poor people and in coordination with Employment Department has also done counseling of 957 workers who are emerged with insane tendencies due to helplessness.
Considering the extraordinary circumstances, Labour department Reasi has rolled out emergency welfare measure particularly by releasing an amount of Rs 11,45,000 among construction workers, who are in distress.
As a token of respect to the corona warriors, Labour department set a yardstick by disbursing a special case worth an amount of Rs 50,000 as professional assistance to a Doctor whose father is a construction worker. The son of the construction worker is presently pursuing M.B.B.S course from Government Medical College Jammu and also serving the humanity during COVID.
