DC Reasi conducts on-site inspection of Aghar Jitto, Devi Mai Shrine at Katra

REASI, DECEMBER 13: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Nidhi Malik today visited Aghar Jitto and the revered Devi Mai Temple in Katra to review developmental aspects, assess ground realities and explore possibilities for beautification of the religious sites.

During her visit to Aghar Jitto, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the state land and reviewed its status, including dimensions and boundary demarcation, to ensure proper utilization and future planning.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited the historic Devi Mai Temple, where she interacted with concerned officials and emphasized the importance of planned and sustainable development of the shrine. She directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for renovation and beautification of the temple within one week. The DPR will focus on improving basic amenities, access and overall facilities for devotees, while preserving the religious and cultural significance of the site.

The PHE Department was directed to explore nearby water sources to ensure adequate water supply at the site. The Power Development Department (PDD) was instructed to ensure proper lighting in and around the temple premises.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the Block Development Officer (BDO) Katra to explore development opportunities around the site, including creation of scenic viewpoints, with the aim of developing the area into a tourist-friendly destination and enhancing its potential as a religious tourism hub.

SDM Katra, Piyush Dhotra, Tehsildar Katra, Jatinder Singh, XEN PWD, AD Tourism and other concerned officers accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the visit.
