DC Ramban reviews progress of RDSS

RAMBAN, Dec 27: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan today reviewed the progress of works under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), Rooftop Solar coverage, and installation of Smart Meters in the district.
The meeting was attended by Executive Engineer JPDCL Sunil Sharma, engineers from various divisions and representatives of executing agencies and vendors associated with these flagship power sector initiatives.
The Deputy Commissioner laid special emphasis on effective implementation and promotion of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, aimed at encouraging households to adopt rooftop solar systems for reducing electricity bills and ensuring reliable power supply. He directed the Executive Engineers and concerned agencies to accelerate the pace of rooftop solar installations to meet the set targets within stipulated timeline, while strictly adhering to quality standards.
He instructed officers and vendors to proactively mobilize public participation, promptly resolve field-level issues and create awareness about the long-term benefits of rooftop solar systems.
Reviewing the progress of Smart Meter installation, the Deputy Commissioner directed the executing agencies to expedite the process and ensure smart metering in a time bound manner. He further instructed that smart meters be mandatorily installed and made operational for all rooftop solar beneficiaries without delay. JPDCL officials were asked to verify and certify the installations of meters.
The DC also reviewed the status of works under RDSS and directed concerned agencies for fast-track execution. Assuring full administrative support, he emphasized timely completion of these projects to strengthen power infrastructure, enhance efficiency and improve consumer satisfaction in Ramban district.
