Pulwama, July 26: Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom today chaired a meeting of the District-Level Coordination-cum-Implementation Committee (DLCIC) at the Administrative Complex Pulwama to review the progress made under the scheme for Revival, Restoration, Preservation, and Maintenance of Architecture and Heritage in Jammu & Kashmir.

At the outset, Joint Director Planning Pulwama presented a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation outlining the status & progress of heritage projects approved during previous meetings of the committee. The presentation included updates on works such as Gufkral Site Tral, Shiv Mandir Midoora, Tahab Temple, Trichal Temple, Shideshwar Temple Drangbal among others.

Besides, progress on projects submitted to the Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums for appraisal and execution was also reviewed.

The Committee also reviewed progress on heritage sites identified during the last DLCIC meeting besides, a fresh set of proposals for 12 newly identified heritage sites was also placed before the Committee for preliminary consideration under the ongoing initiative.

While reviewing the proposals, Dr. Basharat Qayoom highlighted the importance of protecting local heritage sites as an essential part of preserving the district’s rich cultural legacy.

“The conservation of our heritage structures is not only about restoring physical assets but also about safeguarding the collective heritage and identity of our people,” he stated.

He further directed the Executive Engineers to ensure early preparation and submission of DPRs in close liaison with the Department of Archives, Archaeology & Museums, to facilitate timely processing and technical vetting while ensuring that the aesthetic and historical significance of the heritage sites are preserved.
