POONCH, Aug 26: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) in his office chamber to deliberate on the issues concerning the public transport system in the district.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner, who also serves as the Chairman of the RTA, along with other members, conducted a thorough review of various applications seeking road permits.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Basharat Mehmood, briefed the DC on the cases presented for consideration.
After detailed discussions and scrutiny, 42 cases were approved for fresh route permits under the Mission Yuva initiative, aimed at enhancing youth participation in the transport sector.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Traffic Department to ensure effective traffic regulation across the district and to take stringent action against violators. He stressed the importance of maintaining discipline on the roads to ensure safety and smooth transportation for the public.
The meeting was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police, Mohan Lal; Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Basharat Mehmood; Hqr. Asstt. DC, Palvi Verma and other concerned officials.
