SAMBA, Feb 4: District Commissioner (DC) Sheetal Nanda launched free computer classes for around 301 students of Government Higher Secondary School at Vijaypur. HPCL in association with NIIT Bari Brahmana will conduct these classes.
Principal of the school Dev Anand presented the welcome address.
While speaking, Col (retd) Prem Singh, Director NIIT, Bari Brahmana reiterated the need of technology enabled classrooms. He said that focus of development in the rural areas should aim at enriching the youth’s knowledge, which is fast expanding and thus help them in getting jobs.
Mahesh Tandon, Chief Regional Manager HPCL J&K said that computer knowledge widens the horizon of education as well as future employability for the under privileged students. He further said that HPCL is also contributing by constructing toilets and also donating tables and chairs as per demand of the schools in rural areas.
DC Sheetal Nanda stressed upon the students to upgrade their work knowledge about computers and improve their skills in order to become better citizen of tomorrow.
She declared that the Government Higher Secondary School Vijaypur will be made a model school and facilities such as high technology labs will be provided. She advised the students to be well disciplined, work hard and be regular to school.
