KISHTWAR, Aug 29: A District-Level NCORD (Narco Coordination) Committee meeting was convened today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma to review measures being taken to curb drug abuse and to strengthen the de-addiction framework in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner took a detailed review of the current situation and sought inputs from all members regarding vulnerable areas, affected age groups, and identified hotspots.

He also assessed the progress of preventive initiatives and enforcement actions undertaken by the concerned departments.

Emphasizing a collective approach, the DC called for close coordination among all stakeholders to effectively combat the drug menace. He urged active participation in the ongoing UT-wide IEC campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, highlighting the involvement of nine resource persons from the notified line departments.

The DC directed the CMO along with the Drug Inspector (Drugs and Food Control Kishtwar) to conduct an audit and inspection of all Schedule H drug supplies entering the district.

He further instructed the CMO and the Drug Inspector, to carry out special inspections in the far-flung areas of Marwah and Warwan.

The Principal GDC Kishtwar was asked to organize a mega seminar on drug abuse with active involvement of all line departments.

The DC also directed all Heads of the line Departments to ensure maximum participation in the IEC campaign, cautioning that absenteeism would be dealt with strictly.

The meeting was attended by SSP Naresh Singh, DSWO Zubair Ahmed, CEO Municipal Council Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal, CMO Dr. Rajinder Kumar, CEO Sanjay Dogra, Nodal Officer ATF Dr. Harris, Drugs Inspector Drugs and Food Control Munish Gupta besides other senior officers and concerned officials.
