KATHUA, Mar 25: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today visited Lakhanpur corridor to review the proposed rejuvenation works aimed at enhancing the overall aesthetics and utility of the entry point to the district.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner State Taxes Joginder Singh Jasrotia; CEO BDDA Atul Gupta; CPO Ranjeet Thakur; XEN PWD Rohit Gupta; EO MC Lakhanpur Prithvi Sangra and other concerned officers.

During the visit, the DC took stock of the proposed plans for redevelopment of the corridor, including the old State Taxes building and adjoining vacant structures. He emphasized the need to transform these underutilized assets into functional and visually appealing spaces through proper planning and innovative design.

After detailed deliberations with all stakeholders, the Deputy Commissioner directed the executing agency, PWD to prepare a comprehensive proposal for optimal utilization of the old vacant buildings, incorporating provisions for face-lifting, landscaping, public conveniences and other utility services.

“The rejuvenation plan shall focus on improving the overall ambience of the corridor, ensuring better traffic management, cleanliness and provision of basic amenities for visitors,” the DC stressed.

The Deputy Commissioner also visited the area near Lakhanpur main bridge where modalities for installation of a welcome gate were discussed. He instructed the concerned officers to finalize a suitable and aesthetically appealing design, reflecting the cultural essence of the region.
