KATHUA, Sept 10: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today inspected the crucial Tikri point on Basohli-Bani road which had suffered massive disruption due to recent spells of incessant rains and landslides, cutting off the Bani Sub Division from the District Headquarters.
During the visit, the DC took a firsthand appraisal of the restoration works carried out by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) reopening the road for light vehicular traffic. The executing agency informed that multiple stretches affected by landslides were cleared on war-footing to restore the connectivity.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the BRO authorities to further strengthen the road for movement of heavy vehicles at the earliest. Stressing on safety measures, the DC instructed that vehicular movement be restricted during night hours till the road is fully consolidated.
Earlier, ADC Basohli apprised the DC about the ongoing relief and restoration measures in the affected areas. The DC directed ADC Basohli to ensure proper identification of all the families who have suffered loss of life or property so that timely relief under SDRF norms can be processed.
Among others present during the inspection included ADC Basohli Pankaj Bhagotra, SE PWD, XEN PHE Kathua, XEN PWD Basohli and ALC Kathua.
