ANANTNAG, Dec 24: A meeting was held at Martand Tirath Trust, Mattan today in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Syed Fakhruddin Hamid Sahab, along with his entire team, who visited the sacred shrine of Tirath Raj Martand to review the prevailing situation concerning the aquatic life in the holy springs. The meeting was convened by president, Tirath Raj Martand, Ashok Sidha.
During the meeting, Ashok Sidha requested the Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag for the installation of four aerator pumps in the holy springs of Martand Tirath, as advised by the Fisheries Department. Since the cost involved is substantial, it was requested that the purchase and installation of these aerator pumps be undertaken through the funds of the District Administration Anantnag.
Additionally, a request was also made for cleaning of the holy springs through the Fire and Emergency Services Department and for the deployment of one official from the Fisheries Department on a permanent basis at Tirath Raj Martand.
The visiting team comprised the Additional Deputy Commissioner , officials from the Fisheries Department led by the Deputy Director Fisheries, representatives from R&B, Jal Shakti, Fire & Emergency Services, Urban and Local Bodies, Tehsildar Mattan, officials of SDRF, and representatives of the Mattan Welfare Forum and locals of Mattan.
During the visit and subsequent meeting, the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag issued immediate and on-the-spot directions for the installation of air pump pond aerators, cleaning and desilting of spring beds by the Fire and Emergency Services, physical cleaning of the sacred springs, provision of medicated feed for the fish, deployment of one permanent employee from the Fisheries Department, and implementation of other necessary remedial measures aimed at improving and restoring the aquatic life in the holy springs of Martand Tirath.
Ashok Sidha, Joint secretary Vikram Khar along with the entire Biradari of Martand, complimented Deputy Commissioner Anantnag for the prompt, coordinated, and sensitive response of the district administration in addressing this serious and sacred matter.
