DB’s directive in PIL against transfer of forest land to JDA

JAMMU, Apr 15: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice D S Thakur today directed the Advocate General to furnish the copy of the report of a committee constituted to look into the transfer of 623 kanal forest land to Jammu Development Authority.
The direction was passed in a PIL filed by National Panthers Party supremo, Prof Bhim Singh alleging that Chief Minister, in order to please his party men and disgruntled associates found a novel project to build a colony on the forest land being transferred to JDA.
When the PIL came up for hearing before the Division Bench, Advocate General stated that a committee comprising Minister for Forest and Minister for Urban Development has been constituted to look into the matter and committee will meet next week to submit its report after next two weeks.
After hearing Advocate General M I Qadiri for the State and Advocate S K Shukla (Court Counsel), DB directed the Advocate General to give the copy of the report to the Court Counsel. The DB also directed the Registry to list the PIL on May 20, 2013.
