JAMMU, May 8: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against denial of admission to trans-genders in the private schools, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Mohd Yaqoob Mir and Justice D S Thakur today directed the respondents to file response to the PIL on or before May 20.
In the PIL, it has been submitted that the petitioner—Mian Haji Saria approached private schools for admission of two trans-genders namely Komal and Shammiu but denied admission on the basis of their being “trans-genders” thereby putting their their educational career to jeopardy.
After hearing Advocate D S Chouhan appearing for the PIL whereas Additional Advocate General Ravinder Sharma for the State and various Advocates for the private schools, DB directed respondents to file response to the PIL on or before May 20, 2013.
