JAMMU, Nov 3: Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS) here today organised a function to pay rich tribute to martyr Major Som Nath Sharma who laid down his life while defending the Srinagar Airport from the attack of Pakistani army backed Tribals on November 3, 1947.
On this occasion, the Sabha president, Ved Parkash Sharma and others paid floral tributes to Major Som Nath Sharma.
Sabha president V.P Sharma said: “After the martyrdom of Major Sharma, almost his entire family joined Indian Army, thereby setting an example that sacrifice of one member from a family cannot demoralize others.”
While paying rich tribute to Major Som Nath Sharma, Tawi Andolan president and senior BJP leader, Chander Mohan Sharma demanded naming some airport of the State after Major Som Nath Sharma.
DBPS chairman P.C Sharma Advocate, Soujanya Sharma (Retd JMC Commissioner), NMC president Subash Shastri, B.S Jamwal (Retd. DC) and others said that real tributes to Major Som Nath will be to take pledge to keep our self prepared for challenges which threaten the unity and integrity of our country.
Sabha Executive Members Nanak Chand Sharma, M.L Sharma, Jagan Nath Sharma, M.L Padha, Vijay Sharma, Bartia Ram, Shiv Ram Sharma, K.L Sharma, Gurdas Sharma, Rakesh Sharma, Ritiz Khajuria, Devinder Sharma, Girdhari Lal, Verinder Singh Bhatia, Ramesh Sharma, Raman Sharma and other also paid rich tributes to Major Sharma.
