DBPS invites LG for Parshuram Jayanti celebrations

JAMMU, Apr 11: The Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS) today extended an invitation to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to attend the Pooja celebrations of Bhagwan Parshuram Ji Maharaj and flag off the Shobha Yatra scheduled for April 17, 2026.
In this regard a delegation led by Ved Prakash Sharma, president DBPS met the Lieutenant Governor here today.
During the meeting, they formally invited the LG to grace the occasion as the chief gGuest.
On the occasion, the delegation also submitted a memorandum of demands.
They urged the LG to declare a full public holiday on the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Parshuram Ji Maharaj instead of the existing restricted holiday.
Additionally, the delegation requested the installation of a statue of Major Som Nath Sharma at the 4th Tawi Bridge, as already approved by the Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Major Som Nath Sharma, the first recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, is remembered for his supreme sacrifice during the defense of the nation in October 1947, playing a crucial role in safeguarding Kashmir.
The delegation further sought the sanctioning of special funds for the repair and renovation of the Brahman Sabha building, which is currently in a dilapidated condition.
The Lieutenant Governor assured the delegation that their demands would be examined sympathetically.
The delegation included Shiv Ram Sharma, Sanjeev Sharma and Maheshwar Sharma.
