JAMMU, Oct 24: Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS) here today demanded Bharat Ratna for Pt. Prem Nath Dogra (posthumously) for his distinguished services in keeping the J&K State united after the partition of the country.
A resolution in this regard was adopted by the Sabha during a function in connection with birth anniversary of Late Pt. Prem Nath Dogra at Sabha Bhawan under the chairmanship of Ved Parkash Sharma, president DBPS.
The function was attended by representatives of various social and religious organizations across Jammu province.
The resolution was moved by senior BJP leader, Chander Mohan Sharma and seconded by former Deputy Commissioner B.S Jamwal, BJP leader, Munish Sharma and chairman of the Sabha Advocate P.C Sharma and was unanimously adopted after the audience raised hands.
Speaking on the occasion, president DBPS along with Chander Mohan Sharma and others recalled that Pt. Prem Nath Dogra united people of Jammu and launched a strong agitation against the then government by raising the slogan of ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan Ek Nishan’.
“Conferring Bharat Ratna to Pt. Prem Nath Dogra would be a befitting tribute to the son of the soil,” the speakers maintained.
Others present on the occasion were N.C Sharma, M.L Sharma, former JMC Commissioner, Soujanaya Sharma, DBPS spokesperson, Subash Shastri, Jagan Nath Sharma, M.L Padha, K.L Sharma, Gurdass Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, Mega Raina, Jagdish Dogra, Ved Parkash Padha, Girdhari Lal, Kewal Krishan, Sanjeev Kerni, B.B Seth, Ritiz Khajuria, Davinder Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Prem Balotra, Brita Ram, Raman Sharma and Satpal Raina.
