DB directive to DCs on encroachments

SRINAGAR, Sept 30: To make the water bodies encroachment free, the Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N P Vasanthakumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan today directed the Deputy Commissioners to remove the encroachments along Sindh and Jhelum rivers within four weeks after following the due procedure of law.
With regard to the issue of preventing these rivers from pollution, DB directed for approaching the State Pollution control Board (PCB), which was also asked to take appropriate action as and when the mater is brought to its notice.
In its latest status report filed by I&FC Department through Executive Engineer Pulwama, it has been mentioned that villagers of Bonura have encroached the canal (Khul) on both sides and have constructed the cow shed, kitchen and tin walling on the banks of canal.
It has been further submitted that one encroacher was issued notice for removal of encroachments. However, he approached the court of Sub Judge Chadoora and obtained stay order in ex-parte. The DB directed Sub Judge Chadoora to dispose of the case on merits within a period of one month.
