JAMMU, Mar 12: Chairperson of J&K Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi today held public Darbar at Eidgah in Udhampur in which prominent social representatives and the general public met Andrabi and discussed their issues, opinions and suggestive plans with her.
Dr Andrabi addressed the gathering at the conclusion of the Darbar. Waqf Board Chief Executive Officer Zahir Kaifi & Administrator Jammu Abid Hussain also accompanied Andrabi. Civil society representatives Sheikh Tanvir Ahmad, Surinder Singh Khalsa, Waseem Akram, Anwar Hussain, Tariq Shah also spoke on the occasion. Ulema & Imams of district Udhampur also participated in the congregation.
In her address Andrabi said that Waqf Board management has completely changed during the past three years and now the transparency and transformation is the introduction of the Board in J&K. She said that the consolidation and upgradation of our assets in whole of the JKUT is now quite evident and people are witness to the work which has been done and is in progress too.
“Public endorsement of the initiatives of the Board in J&K is our guiding force. We resolve to do more with much more vigour and dedication. We are committed to strengthen the Sufi centers throughout J&K”, Andrabi said.
Waqf Chairperson announced that a shopping complex will be constructed by the Board in Udhampur at Waqf land which will give work opportunities to local youth and also generate funds for infrastructure development here. She thanked Sheikh Tanveer for organising this public interactive program here.
Dr Darakhshan later chaired a meeting for Eid preparedness in which representatives from different government departments and Waqf Board officers participated. ADC Udhampur Prem Singh, CEO Udhampur Municipality Ranjinder Dhingra, XEn JKPDCL Mohammed Sareer, Naib Tehsildar Anayat Ali and AIO Jewan Singh among others were present.
