LEH, July, 27: “Religion is a private matter but our common goal should be how to promote love, peace and harmony among 7 billion mankind on earth” said the Buddhist spiritual head Dalai Lama during his visit to historical Jama Mazjid Leh today.
He visited Chowkhang Vihara, Jama Mazjid and Imam Bargah this morning to have thorough interaction with different religious head and scholars. Reiterating his statement His Holiness mentioned that as an individual of 7 Billion population his prime commitment is to promote love, understanding and harmony among the entire population of world no matter whether they are believers of any religion or non-believer to have compassionate. He added that all major religions of world preach to develop love and compassion and there may be different ways of approaching God or Allah using different philosophies but our ultimate goal is to promote the message of god to have better understanding among each other.
Expressing his serious concern over terrorist activities in the world particularly in Syria, Iraq where people kill each other due to personnel interest and goal, Dalai Lama added that those who become terrorists are no longer belonging to any particular religion or faith and it’s wrong to associate them with any religious because such individual have no religion.
He asserted that Jehad should be used to destroy our negative emotion rather than killing human. He went on to say that even there are some mischievous individuals from Buddhist, Hindu or Muslims who for personal motivation carry out inhuman activities to kill humanity but we should collectively make efforts to make a happy and peaceful world and India is good example particularly Ladakh where communal harmony is exemplary.
He emphasised upon making continuous effort to reduce the conflict among different religion faith by holding seminars and discussion by bringing all stakeholders on common platform and asked Buddhist religious head to organize such event at Chowkahng Vihara to invite Muslims and Christians to share their inner feeling and knowledge.
At Chowkhang Vihara LBA president Tsewang Thinles, Youth president Rinchen Namgyal and Women President Tsewang Dolma offered Mandala to His Holiness Dalai Lama. Expressing his delight over the practice of reading the Buddha’s teaching Kangyur & Stangyur Dalai Lama added that apart from conducting religious teaching, this temple should be made learning centre for different faith and religion to share their knowledge. Apart from spreading Buddha Dharma teachings, he also stressed upon promoting Ancient Buddhist culture. He also announced to hold peace keeping seminar at National level where he would like to invite representatives from Ladakh region.
Terming it as great privilege for visiting historical Jama Mazjid, Anjuman Moin-Ul-Islam president Sheikh Saif Ud-Din mentioned that they have been advocating the message for strengthening the communal harmony between different religions. He also briefly appraised the Buddhist spiritual head about historical back ground of Leh Jama Mazjid dating back to 1667.
Welcoming Dalai Lama at Imam Bargah Anjuman Imamiya President Asharf Ali Barcha said that Shia community feel blessed to have His Holiness for the third time here starting his first visited in sixties followed by second time in 2007 to inaugurate this Imam Bargah and added that they make efforts to spread his message of love and compassion due to which communal harmony, peace and prosperity prevailing in the region quipped Asharf while condemning the terrorist activities in the world.
LAHDC CEC Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo, MLA Nawang Rigzin Jora, Executive Councillors, Additional Deputy Commissioner Moses Kunzang, SSP Tsering Gyalpo, former CEC Rigzin Spalbar, Political heads and District officers were also present during his visit today.
