Dalai Lama visiting Leh from July 27

LEH, July 23: Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama is arriving here on July 27 to attend the Yarchos Chenmo ceremony at Spituk Labrang being organized by Galdan Targesling Gonpa, Spituk on July 29.
This was disclosed by Geshe Lobzang Samstan while addressing media persons here today. He said that the ceremony of Yarchos Chenmo was held in Likir last year and on advice of spiritual leader Dalai Lama, this time the ceremony is being organized at Spituk Labrang  to have debate and discussion sessions among monks of all sect of Buddhism apart from engaging in religious rituals.
The main highlight of Yarchos Chenmo is the participation of around 300 school students including those of Muslim schools along with 300 monks from 16 different Gonpas who would debate on themes like Buddhism and science, environment, cultural and moral values, habits and discipline in behavior, said Geshes T Chosgyal, spokes person Spituk Monastery.
He added that the function on July 29 would be exclusively for monks, students and invitees but from July 30 onwards anyone interested to be a part of it can come.
President LBA, Thinles said that for public a one day long preaching will be delivered by Dalai Lama on July 30 at Jivetsal and on the same day long life offering for Dalai Lama on the eve of his attaining 80 years of age will be offered.
Geshes Lobzang said that on July 28, Dalai Lama would inaugurate Jamyang School in Murtse Colony followed by an interaction session with the youth including school students from Class 6th onwards.
