Srinagar, Dec 19: The Doctors Association of Kashmir (DAK) today demanded the establishment of a National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Super Speciality (NEET-SS) examination center in Srinagar to address the challenges faced by aspirants.
DAK president Dr. Yousuf Tak highlighted the plight of NEET-SS candidates from Srinagar and surrounding areas, who, he said, are compelled to travel over 300 kilometers to appear for the examination.
“This not only imposes undue financial and logistical burdens but also creates significant hurdles due to unpredictable weather and terrain,” he said.
Dr. Rubeena Bhat, spokesperson for DAK, stated that the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has cited “security reasons” as an excuse for not establishing a NEET-SS examination center in Srinagar.
Dr. Owais, general secretary of DAK, pointed out that the absence of a NEET-SS center in Srinagar forces candidates to undertake arduous journeys to examination centers outside the Valley, often in challenging circumstances.
DAK has urged the concerned authorities to prioritize this pressing issue and immediately take steps to establish a NEET-SS examination center in Srinagar.
