JAMMU, July 26: All J&K Daily Wagers Sanghrash Samiti has declared to go on strike from August Ist, 2025 in support of their long pending demands.
Talking to media persons here today Chairman of the Samiti- Sunny Kant Chib and president, Javid Ahmed Kumhar said that members of the Sanghrash Samiti, including daily wage workers from various departments, Mid Day Meals workers of Education Department, Community Participation Workers of Jal Shakti Deptt, Asha and Anganwadi workers, Land owners of PHE, Malis and Chowidars etc will go on indefinite strike from Ist of August as the Government has failed to address their long pending issues.
They further pointed out that these workers are not being paid their wages regularly and not as per Minimum Wages Act. This all is being done for `No work, No wages’ claim, as workers of all these departments are facing lot of problems. Despite many representations and protest – dharnas they are not getting justice at the hands of people at the helm of affairs in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
Referring to the pitiable condition of Mid Day Meals workers, Chib said these hapless workers, cooks are getting just Rs 30 per day wages. Asha workers/ Anganwadi workers and helpers are also facing exploitation besides Malias and Chowkidars as they too, are getting just peanut amount as daily wage. They said Sanghrash Samiti is demanding regular wages for these workers as per Minimum Wages Act as they go unpaid for months together.
Many Land owners donated their lands for the construction of water tanks, pumping stations/ dug/ tube wells/ Panchyat Ghars on the condition that one of their member should provided job in the PHE but the Government in most of the cases did not fulfilled its promise. There is very cold response from the higher authorities.
These leaders said that observing the attitude of the Government, they have been compelled to go on strike from August Ist, 2025. For any inconvenience to the general public UT Government will be responsible. They said they have already informed about the indefinite strike programme to the office of Lt Governor of JKUT, Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, all Deptt Heads and the Deputy Commissioners.
